Healthy Recipe Ideas

As we enter into the final weeks of the holidays, eating healthy is at the bottom of the list.  Office cookies, neighbors’ brownies and tins of candy fill our houses.  I write this as a beautiful tin of brownies sits on my counter.  We are busy and convenience is often the answer.  Don’t give up!  Meal plan, shop healthy and feed your family well!

To help you with ideas, I have a compiled a list of yummy recipes to try.  I haven’t tried them all, but they are on my “to-cook” list:

Fit Burger Recipes

Do you love to grill out?  Now that it is summertime, our grill is used almost every night!  We do not often do hamburgers, but are planning on it for Memorial Day.  In searching for a good hamburger recipe, I found “Six Bikini Friendly Burger Recipes” at Women’s Health Magazine. The recipes include Turkey Gorgonzola Burgers, Garden Chicken Burger with Strawberry Sauce, Asian Salmon Sliders and more!  Here is our opportunity to enjoy a yummy burger and not regret it later!  Check it out!

Healthy Chicken Fingers!

My children tend to be on the picky side, so I often fall into a rut of chicken fingers and spaghetti.  Anyone else join me on this?  In looking for healthy and yummy recipes, I came across this great site: www.eatingwell.com I am especially interested in the Eating Well Recipes for kids.  They list dishes like: Eating Well Fish Sticks, Eating Well Pepperoni Pizza and Inside Out Cheeseburgers. Click here for the Almond Crusted Chicken Fingers.

Fit Snack

Have you read the Abs Diet Book?  Yes, they have a version for men and for women.  In it, you will find great exercises, schedules, recipes and meal plans to help you find those abs in six weeks.  One section that I love in the book, is the Smoothie section.  This section gives lots of ideas for the best smoothies.  Here is one of my favorites:

Field Marshall Smoothie:

1/2 cup low-fat vanilla yogurt

1 cup 1 percent milk

2 tsp peanut butter

1 cup frozen strawberries

2 tsp whey powder

6 ice cubes

This makes 2, 8 oz servings.  186 calories per serving, 11 g Protein, 26 g Carbs, 5 g Fat, 3 g Fiber

Get out your blender–you will love this!
